Much of the feedback I received from my troika group was very encouraging and helpful. They agreed with what I had said about me having to define the narrative of my project but they also suggested the following:

  • Add more color to the overall visuals

  • Add sound design

  • Work on the timing and add more scenes between what is shown in the storyboard

  • Figure out the mechanics and plan it well

Thanks to this feedback I was very inspired and helped me figure out the plan and next steps to take for this project.

For the final product, I expanded my original color palette while drawing the backgrounds and found it really fun. I went more for a simple coloring and simple lines for this fantasy animatic. If I had had more time I would have liked to add more details as well as make the story clearer by adding more markets for the coin to visit, better movement, sound design, and the magical imagery for the coin that I had in mind.

Throughout this process, I learned how to be intentional about what I was doing in my piece, especially when drawing out my background. I used color as a way to give more depth and hierarchical importance by using saturation intentionally. I also learned how to go about planning out a color palette, storyboard, and camera angles to make the actual production process better and showcase the story the best it can be.
