Hi, I’m Katya Solis, a designer and storyteller passionate about bringing stories to life through animation and visual design. I’m currently studying Art & Entertainment Technologies at the University of Texas at Austin while earning a Programming and Computation Certificate to enhance my technical skills.

    I was originally inspired to embark on this journey toward storytelling and animation after watching Toy Story 4. Yes, Toy Story 4… While it may seem silly, my 14-year-old brain was blown away, not just by the visuals, which I still find amazing, but also by the evolution of the whole franchise, which I had watched throughout my childhood. As time went on, the passion I felt for animated films only grew with films like Coco, Howl’s Moving Castle, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse, etc. And while it is the visuals that I aim to recreate it is the meaningful messages of representation, magic, and empowerment that continue to inspire me.

   As I progress in my education, I’m expanding my skills in graphic design, programming, and animation while deepening my understanding of narrative design, 2D/3D art, game design, and UI/UX. Outside of coursework, I actively apply my skills through personal projects, sharing my work on my art Instagram, and collaborating with peers on animated shorts. I love exchanging feedback, learning from others, and contributing to creative projects that push storytelling forward. Currently, I am looking for internship opportunities where I can gain real-world experience and learn more about designing/animating.
